Web site: www.englishlearner.com

Level and Skill: This website would be appropriate and applicable for learners who range from the beginner level to the advanced. The skills that would be used in this website include those of reading and writing.

Interactive: There is an interactive feature to this website and for students who like an interactive component in their websites this would be an ideal website for them to learn from.

ESL/non-ESL: This website is primarily for use by ESL learners.

What makes it good: I found this website extremely easy to use and the usefulness for learners is that there are various grammar and vocabulary exercises for the learner to complete at all skill levels. The website provides puzzles, jumbled words, cloze and multiple choice tests for the learner to attempt and complete if they so desire. There are time limited quizzes for the more advanced students who think that they can complete them. The links to other student resources would be useful to the learner in the learning process. I feel that this website would be extremely useful to any learner looking to improve their reading and writing skills.

Web Review Blog #4

Website: http://www.rosettastone.com

Level and Skill: From the demo that I experienced I would believe that this would be best suited for beginner reading, writing, speaking and listening.

Interactive: That is a big component of the website.

ESL/ Non-ESL: This software is designed with ESL learners in mind.

What makes it good: The software provides visual demonstrations, in the form of pictures, of either the word or sentence that is spoken. This would assist the learner in learning their second language. I found that as I listened to the audio clips which were spoken with the voice of a native speaker that this would be extremely useful to someone learning a second language.

Web Review Blog #3

Website: www.englishforum.com

Level: This website would be applicable and excellent to use for students who range in their level from intermediate to advanced.

Skill: The skill that this website can be used for would be specifically grammar.

Interactive: This site is very interactive in its' design and would be extremely user friendly for the learner to use and to navigate through this website.

ESL/Non-ESL: This website is oriented towards the ESL learner due to its' content and design.

What makes it good: I believe that the usefulness of this website for the learner would be how easy it is to navigate through it. For the learner that is interested in grammar there is a variety of levels of difficulty and numerous grammar topics that they can explore on their own. When it comes time to find the answers to the grammar questions that they have completed the learner will find that they are easy to access. This process will determine whether or not they have an understanding of the grammar topic and also what their strengths and weaknesses are in grammar.

Web Review Blog #2

Web Site: The Guide to Grammar and Writing http://www.ccc.commnet.edu/

Level and Skill: As stated on http://www.teslontario.org/news/links/links_learners.html the reading level is 2-8 and writing is 2-6. I would estimate that this would be applicable for levels 3-5 at Niagara College.

Interactive: There is an interactive component to this website.

ESL/Non-ESL: The website is useful for either ESL or even non-ESL learners who wish to improve their grammar and writing skills in English. It is my personal belief that teachers of both ESL and non-ESL learners could put this website to good use.

What Makes It Good: This website with its index of 427 references which is located in The Guide to Grammar and Writing could indeed prove an effective tool for our learners to improve their reading and writing skills. This particular website is extremely well thought out in its design and layout. I found the website to be easy to use and user friendly which would aid in its benefit to the learner. Each of the 427 references are well defined and have examples and hyper-links for each one to assist the learner in their learning process. I would recommend this website to any learner or teacher.

Web Review Blog #1

The name of the website that I reviewed for my first blog is English Grammar and Writing and the link for the website is http://www.edufind.com/english/grammar/index.cfm .

The level and skill of the learner which would use this website would be for those learners that are interested in improving their grammar and writing skills. The levels would be a range between beginner to advanced. This website would be useful for a wide range of learners to use which would make it an excellent learning resource for all teachers to use.

There is an interactive element to this website and this can be viewed by the learners when they click on the link to the English language tests and games which can be seen on the homepage of the website. This would be the interactive component to this website which the students can interact with.

This website was designed particularly for second language users to use to assist in the improvement of their grammar and writing skills. The website that I am reviewing today can both be used by the teacher and the learner in the classroom.

What makes it useful for the ESL learner is that it covers wide range of subjects which are used in grammar and writing. There is a link to a quick guide to English punctuation which would be useful for the learner trying to make improvements in that area. There is also a link to useful writing tips and to English tests which would demonstrate to the learner the areas that they excel in and where they need to make improvements. The website is extremely user friendly and there is even an online personal tutor to assist the ESL learners with any questions that they may have. There are internal links which will direct the learner to grammar tests and games, tips for good writing, an guide to punctuation, table of contents and subject lists which allow the students to direct themselves to the specific areas that they wish to improve on.
